Storywork: Impression at KAM

On October 19, 2023, Krannert Art Museum hosted "Storywork: Impression," an immersive performance by dancer and multidisciplinary artist Irene Hsiao, with live projections by artist Matt Harsh. The event was inspired by the exhibition "Storywork: The Prints of Marie Watt."

The performance blended dance, printmaking, writing, drawing, and live projections, encouraging participants to interact with the exhibition's themes, materials, and stories. Attendees were invited to contribute their own stories and images in response to the exhibition. After the performance, there was a conversation with the artists and an open printmaking session in the KAM Café, where art materials were provided.

Irene Hsiao is known for creating performances that engage with visual art in museums, galleries, and public spaces. Her work spans site-specific interactions, durational improvisation, interactive installations, film, and virtual performances. She has been an Artist in Residence at institutions such as the Smart Museum of Art and 21c Museum Hotel, with her performances presented at venues like the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago.
